Today I'm Thankful for...

... the most amazing husband in the world. He's my best friend, my confident, my coach, my love, my support, my rock and my #1 fan. I honestly don't know what I would do without him. He cooks, he cleans, he baths the children, plays with the children, puts them to bed and loves them to bits.

(He's the best father in the world too!)

He's kind and sensitive, caring and loving. He's hilarious and makes me laugh like no one else can. He makes me feel like I'm the best photographer in the world... well, the best everything really. And the most important thing... this guy gets me... he GETS ME! And not a lot of people do... but he does. And he loves me for it. And I love him for it.

This morning, he let me sleep in and brought me breakfast in bed... chocolate chip pancakes with banana and strawberries, orange juice and milk... mmmmmm!

He's the best.... Love you my big man!

Sorry for the crappiness of this photo but I was jumping in and out of my office so that he wouldn't see me taking the photo... he finally did see me, and the next photo after this was of his big white a$$!! LOL

Good Bye UGLY Garden!!

For all of you that have been to our home, you've seen the hideously overgrown ugly bee and ant infested garden that was growing in the middle of our front yard, courtesy of the previous owners. ARGH.

Well this last weekend, with all the wonderful weather, we (meaning Ted) decided to dig it up! HURRAY!
We also ripped out the rickety front fence and put hedging there... now grow, darnit, grow!!

Can't wait to lay the new grass down! We just need some more sunny weather, and with this SNOW we had today, I'm not holding my breath!

We had some great help from my dad, my dad in law, and my mom in law.

HEY! Enough standing around! Get to WORK!!

Daddy and his special helper... is Ashleigh wearing white in that dirt pile?!?!? Ugh.

And her special duty as Special Helper, was to ensure that Daddy was equipped with a cold beer at all times... she was pretty good at her job.... maybe too good?

Oh! And the winter mitts were her "gardening gloves" and yes, those are gumboots she has on. LOL

I am Thankful For...

Sleeping babies... healthy babies.

Ash is Famous!!

I've been looking into this charity I came across and it seems just amazing. I can't wait to get started with it! It's a group of photographers trying to halt child abuse by bringing a realization to the world around us of how precious and amazing childhood really is through their photos.

So I was on their blog the other day and the founder of the charity put a call out for photos of children and their cameras. Well I have TONS of those!! So I sent one in of Ash and her little subject... You have to check it out... too cute!!

Click HERE and scroll down a bit!! The entry is titled "The Assistant".

In My Own Little World...

I just want to tell all my friends and family that I love you all! I am so sorry that I've been MIA the last few months (ok... maybe more than a few). I am so shocked at how well my little photo business is doing and so thankful! I am humbled at how many people love my work and want me to take photos of their babies.

Having said that, I haven't had much time for any of my friends or family and I want you all to know that I miss you and think about you all the time! Sitting here in my office editing my fingers off, I always think of you and the things I miss out on sometimes. But I know it will all get easier once I figure a few more things out and I'll be back around taking pictures of all of YOU again!! :)

Overwhelmed, exhausted, unorganized, amazed, proud... a few words to explain how I feel lately. Will talk to you all very soon!
J

Hello Terrible Two's.

Hello Terrible Two's! And how are you? I haven't seen you around these parts in awhile... can't say I've missed you but boy are you back with a vengence.

Yikes! That's all I can say!

Yes, he's potty training himself, but WHOA!! What a temper!!

Today I Am Thankful For...

... little boys who potty train themselves!!
That's right... my 19 month old is teaching himself how to pee in the potty! I LOVE it! He has been at it for a couple weeks and today we didn't have one wet diaper! I haven't changed crappy pants in a few days now!! WOOHOO!!

What are YOU thankful for today?!?

My Girl!

Ok... is she not an ANGEL?!?!?

Her new shoes... gave me chance to try a little something different with my editing! ;)

My Four Kiddos!

Today I had four kids! I had my two, and then I had Logan (the little boy that I will be babysitting) and Emily (Ash's best friend). We took a little walk to the park and we had some good fun! (Though, I think we'll stick to the backyard when Ted's not with us!!).

I'm Back!

Just got home from a photography seminar in Seattle and it was really great. I went down with a new friend of mine who also does photography, Tracey L Heppner. I sort of took from it what I wanted and left a whole lot more, know what I mean? I think you definitely have to establish your own style and your own way to work with your clients. The speaker said that she does 10 sessions a day!!! That is insane to me... how on earth does she find the time to interact with her clients and get to know them and form that relationship?!? That's part of why I love my job... the people, the families!

But there's basics of lighting, posing and many other things that are universal for most forms of photography and from that, I did get a lot out of it. It was a nice little getaway and I would definitely do it again!!
Here's the essential "roadtrip two head photo" that we took! I think Tracey has a WAY better one, so Tracey if you're reading this, send it my way!!
